Explore: NSU Art Museum, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

NSU Art Museum – 1 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301

I’m a museum lover through-and-through; I can spend hours on end in a museum, and I’d rather seek out good food and museums/grand houses than do anything else on a trip. The NSU Art Museum is a little modern art gem in the heart of downtown Ft. Lauderdale, although it’s a relatively small museum, they do their exhibits well – and the building itself is artwork. While I was in Ft. Lauderdale, NSU had two exhibits that I really wanted to see: The Photography of Chuck Close (I’ve mentioned him here before) and the Bellissima: Italy and High Fashion Exhibit.

BELLISSIMA: ITALY AND HIGH FASHION 1945-1968

Fashion exhibits from Italy and Paris are my favorites, and although this exhibit is only open for a few more weeks, if you do nothing else with this post, at least open the Bellissima exhibit photo gallery here, and gawk at the beautiful Italian clothes from fashion’s golden age. The garments are gorgeously crafted, and the fashion photography by Pasquale de Antonis, Federico Gerallo, & Ugo Mulas are captivating.

It’s so fun to go through and pick out your favorites – I was drawn to Mila Schön’s garments. My favorite being this blush coat from S/S 1969 with the open dart in the back (seen on the back left) – I could see Kate Middleton wearing that today. Also, this photograph by Pasquale de Antonis is just gorgeous.
