Lilacs & Butterflies

Temperatures have been in the 70 degree (F) range since February (ugh, global warming, but yay, spring!), and I snapped this in my yard a few weeks ago right before a short cold snap zapped the lilacs.

Retrospect & Resolution

There’s a small part of me that can’t believe we’re here at the end of 2016 already, but mostly I feel that this year was surely twice as long as any other and I can’t wait for it to be finished!

This year was a lesson in starting over and finding out just how much strength and fortitude I have. It was about letting go – of a career that was draining everything out of me, of the people whose words and actions didn’t match, and of the stuff that was cluttering my physical and mental space. It was about finding a way to navigate through and deal with my anxiety, to find my voice and use it. Personal growth can be so painful, yet I learned so much along the way that I wouldn’t trade it because I feel so different now than I did a year ago… better, stronger.

I did have some amazing experiences this year, some of which I shared here, and many that I didn’t. I left this little space for a while, but it keeps pulling me back – the creative itch and the sense of camaraderie and community is strong. My goal is to return to it more consistently in the coming months to share more travel, photography, food, and life.

Wishing you a happy new year!
