Lilacs & Butterflies

Temperatures have been in the 70 degree (F) range since February (ugh, global warming, but yay, spring!), and I snapped this in my yard a few weeks ago right before a short cold snap zapped the lilacs.

Scenes from Little Rock’s River Market

Last week I took advantage of a few warm and sunny January days to get away and combat the winter blues. I’d never been to Little Rock, so I didn’t know what it had in store, but I have to say it was a pleasantly surprising city!

The River Market is situated along the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock. In warmer months it features their farmer’s market, but is also home to shopping, dining, the Museum of Discovery, the Clinton Presidential Library Center, and miles of very walkable/bikeable trails. I’ll be sharing a few specific sights over the next few days, but for now here are some scenes from River Market.

WPC: Resilient

The view of the Detroit Skyline from Canada, September 2016

Detroit, Michigan – This is a place where my roots run deep. A city I love because this is where five generations of my family are from, and it is the very definition of resilient. It has weathered the boom and bust of the auto industry, the scandal and corruption of power-hungry politicians, and so much more, but it’s still standing, still hustling, and making its comeback.
